Closing the Wealth Gap Workshop Series

Making a Difference

The Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will present a virtual speaker series focusing on steps necessary to create generational wealth beginning Sunday, May 23 at 5 p.m. The series, “Closing the Wealth Gap” is a free, three-part series designed to address economic disparities and to equip the African-American community with strategies and tools to mitigate the alarming wealth gap that exists.  Workshops cover the key elements of wealth creation including home ownership, saving, financial and estate planning, stock investing, and home equity protection.  Speakers include local and national subject matter experts.

The Chapter will host its first annual “Delta Pitch Competition” for local small business owners as the culminating event for the series.  The competition is a unique chance for the City’s minority entrepreneurs and business owners to pitch for a chance to win one of three small business grants.  The first-place winner will win $5,000.

“We are excited to present this workshop, through the generous donation of our sponsors, to help change the wealth trajectory of our community. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community has tools necessary to positively change their financial status regardless of their starting point,” said Chapter President Shawnda DeRamus. “Given the workshop will be in a virtual environment, it is my hope that more attendees young and old will be able to benefit from such a unique offering of financial topics.”
